The new barge Kirby 155-01 departed from Bay Shipbuilding, pushed by her tug Heath Wood, on Wednesday, November 23. The pair arrived in Indiana Harbor, IN on Friday to load before moving to the port of South Chicago.
The tug/barge combo is the first of two identical ATB units to be delivered by Bay Ship under a 2014 contract with the Kirby Corporation. The 155,000 barrel capacity barge will carry petroleum and chemical products on the U.S. East Coast.
I took this photo of Heath Wood back in August, when the pair was still under construction.
