On Tuesday, the tugs Jerry G. and Radium Yellowknife towed Algoma Central Corporation’s 1978-built tanker Algosar upbound in the Welland Canal, bound for Port Colborne and an overseas scrapyard. The ship was built as the U.S.-flagged Gemini in 1978, and was purchased by Algoma in 2005. Visit this photo gallery for photos of the scrap tow.
In addition, Algoma’s Peter R. Cresswell departed Port Colborne on Tuesday, bound for Montreal where it is assumed she will be towed overseas for scrap. Stay tuned for further updates!
