Algoma Central’s Algomarine is on her final trip, carrying a load of salt from Goderich, Ontario, to Montreal. After unloading, she will be towed overseas to Turkey for scrapping.
Algomarine, built in 1968, is the first of six vessels Algoma announced earlier this year that were to be retired. The company did not give any names, although vessels such as Algoma Navigator, Algosoo, Peter R. Cresswell, Algosteel, and the tanker Algosar are likely to be retired also.
